Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown speaks at Trump event in Pennsylvania
Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown spoke at Donald Trump’s campaign event in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, praising the former president as someone who is “always ready for the fight.”
“To be real, we’ve all experienced highs and lows, especially me in my career as a Super Bowl champion and as a father to seven amazing children. I’ve faced challenges and had to overcome adversity, just like Donald Trump. No matter what the media throws at him or what people say to try to bring him down, he keeps pushing forward and gets back up,” Brown said.
“And he’s always ready for the fight,” Brown continued, rallying the crowd with chants of “Fight, fight, fight!”
Background
Brown’s career has been marked by ups and downs. He was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 after being suspended for three games without pay for violating COVID-19 protocols. The NFL found evidence that Brown and two other players “misrepresented their vaccination status.”
Before that, he was suspended without pay for the first eight games of the 2020 season for multiple violations of the league’s personal conduct policy. He was also released by the New England Patriots amid accusations of sexual misconduct. In 2021, Brown revealed through a representative that he had settled a lawsuit filed by a former trainer who accused him of rape and sexual assault.
