At least 90 killed in Israeli strikes overnight on Gaza
At least 90 people were killed in multiple Israeli airstrikes on Gaza overnight as the conflict in the enclave continues without respite.
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that 51 people were killed and dozens wounded during an Israeli incursion in Khan Younis overnight. “Several victims remain trapped under the rubble and in the streets,” the ministry said, noting that rescue efforts are hindered because “ambulance and civil defense teams cannot reach them.”
A member of Gaza’s Civil Defense said the strikes, which began on Tuesday, targeted an area sheltering hundreds of displaced people. Rescue efforts have been hampered by a shortage of equipment.
We are contacted the Israeli military for comment on the Khan Younis incursion.
In Gaza City, Israeli strikes hit two schools, killing at least 21 people, many of them children, according to the Civil Defense and a medical source from Al Ahli Hospital. The Israeli military said its “precise” strikes targeted Hamas command centers within former school compounds.
In another incident in Gaza City, four people, including two children, were killed, according to Civil Defense and Al Ahli Hospital.
Israeli artillery shelling south of Wadi Gaza, near Netzarim, killed 14 people overnight, while airstrikes in Nuseirat in central Gaza claimed six lives, as reported by Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
Video footage shows dead and shrouded children being brought into the hospital after a strike south of Wadi Gaza, including a baby only a few months old, whose father cleared dust from her face.
We are also requested comment from the Israeli military, which earlier said its troops identified “dozens of suspects” moving toward them and posing “an immediate threat.” The soldiers opened fire, reportedly hitting their targets.
