Obama to join “Win with Black Men” organizing meeting Sunday
Former President Barack Obama will participate in a “Win With Black Men” roundtable during the group’s weekly virtual meeting on Sunday.
According to a statement, “Win With Black Men aims to dismantle the stigmas and misinformation surrounding Black men, our vote, fatherhood, family, and our futures.”
The voting patterns of Black men have been a major topic this election cycle, with some Democrats concerned that even a slight decline in support could significantly impact battleground states.
Obama’s recent remarks in Pittsburgh directed at Black men received mixed reactions, with some feeling he was overly critical. “You’re considering sitting out or supporting someone like Donald Trump, who has a history of denigrating you, thinking that’s a sign of strength? That’s not acceptable,” he stated earlier this month.
Trump says the US is “like a garbage can for the world” as he rails against illegal immigration
Former President Donald Trump described the U.S. as “like a garbage can for the world” while criticizing illegal immigration at a campaign rally in Arizona on Thursday.
“We’re a dumping ground. We’re like a garbage can for the world. That’s what has happened to our country,” Trump said during his speech in Tempe.
“This is the first time I’ve ever used that phrase, and every time I talk about what’s been done to our country, I get angrier. But it’s a very accurate description,” he added.
Trump has consistently blamed Vice President Kamala Harris for illegal immigration and has characterized undocumented immigrants in broad, negative terms, often referring to them as murderers or dangerous individuals. He frequently claims there is an “invasion” occurring and uses dehumanizing language to describe those who enter the country without documentation.
