Israel and Hezbollah clash on the ground in southern Lebanon
Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters have confirmed they are engaged in ground combat in southern Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported “close-range engagements,” stating they have destroyed over 150 “terrorist infrastructure sites” and neutralized militants in the region, according to a post on X.
Hezbollah spokesperson Mohamed Afif informed reporters in Beirut that the Iran-backed group had confronted Israeli forces in Aadeyseh. The group also announced ongoing clashes with Israeli soldiers in the southern Lebanese village of Maroun Al-Ras.
The IDF has not responded to Hezbollah’s claims but urged the public not to share information about military activities for the safety of its forces.
Lebanon’s military reports that Israeli forces advanced 400 meters into Lebanese territory before retreating.
Lebanon’s military reported Wednesday that an Israeli military unit crossed the border, advancing about 400 meters (roughly a quarter of a mile) into Lebanese territory before withdrawing.
“An Israeli enemy force breached the Blue Line by approximately 400 meters into Lebanese territory in the areas of Khirbet Yaroun and Aadeyseh, then withdrew after a short period,” the army stated.
The Blue Line refers to the demarcation border that separates Israel from Lebanon.
